This story is both heart-wrenching and miraculous, offering a powerful testament to the unpredictability of life and the potential for hope even in the darkest moments.
Ryan Finley’s experience began like any ordinary day when he woke up and tried to rouse his wife, Jill. But when she didn’t respond, his panic set in, and after performing CPR, he rushed her to the hospital. The doctors discovered that Jill had suffered a cardiac arrest, and after stabilizing her, they informed Ryan that she was in a coma. The situation quickly became dire, and doctors, after a few weeks, recommended that Ryan consider removing her from life support.
During this uncertain period, Ryan clung to hope, often reading Bible passages aloud to Jill. Despite the grim prognosis, he continued to pray for her recovery. Then, on the 14th day of her coma, after the decision was made to remove her life support, Jill began to stir. Five hours later, she uttered words that left Ryan in utter disbelief: “Get me out of here. I want to go home.”
Her words were coherent and sharp, and she even answered questions with ease, proving that her mind was intact. This miraculous moment defied medical expectations, leading Ryan to believe it was nothing short of divine intervention that brought Jill back to him. Jill, however, also supported his decision to remove life support, as she didn’t want to live without the quality of life she once had.
Though Jill’s recovery required hard work to regain lost motor skills, their renewed bond was unshakable. They both understood the fragility of life and committed to always being there for each other, especially in times of crisis. Their story is a reminder of the power of faith, love, and the unexpected chances life can offer.
Ryan says: “there’s still not a night that goes by that I don’t wake up. I’ll usually kick her and if she kicks me back, I know we’re OK.”
We are so happy that both Ryan and Jill Finley are both well and next to each other at all times!
